Until recently, commercial wiring meant only installing receptacles and lighting.  In today’s computerized office event, the requirements for your electrical installation have become more demanding.  Isolated circuits, standby emergency power, clean power, and energy management have all become increasingly important.  Hylton’s Electric Connection has vast experience in all aspects of commercial wiring and provides the professional services you need.

We have incorporated our design/build service into our residential service as well.  By getting to know your needs, we can design a system that is right for your home and then provide professional installation.We take the residential market one step further as well.  Centralized lighting control by Lutron with the optional wireless control by RadioRA, surround sound and entertainment systems, home networking, and “smart wiring” are only a few additional services provided by HEC.

Industrial Electrical Installations and Automation

Power Generation / Generators

Hylton’s Electric Connection has provided professional design and installation of standby emergency power systems since the mid 80’s.  These systems consist of gas (LP &NG) and diesel generators in a multitude of voltages.  Our experience in residential, commercial, and industrial applications attest to our ability to provide service second to none.

Many electrical services and associated distribution equipment require modification and/or renovation to accommodate a new installation.  HEC specializes in custom design, unique applications, and highly logistical installations.  Minimal interruption to normal operation and inconveniences to our customers is of great concern.  We prioritize our design and installation to minimize disruptions.

Our primary focus was design and installation until we realized the need for dependable and affordable preventive maintenance and service.  For example, we now maintain a generator Preventive Maintenance Agreement for Frontier, a Citizens Communications Company, in the states of Tennessee and West Virginia.  We are proud of our long relationship with Frontier, and our ability to install, service, and maintain their emergency standby power systems.  Our philosophy is to provide quality, reliability, and trustworthiness to every customer.

Power Quality Studies

Do the images on your computer screen seem to wiggle sometimes?  You could possibly have a grounding problem.  Do you have hard drives that for no reason scratch or crash.  You could be experiencing power surges.  Maybe your lights flicker 20 times day.  Your electric service could be providing you with inadequate voltage.  Seeing our customers stress over power related issues, and not receiving sufficient answers from their utility company, we decided to start solving these problems for them.  With our metrosonics pa-7 power quality analyzer, we can monitor all the current carrying conductors throughout your facility to determine a cause as well as the remedy to your problem.

The problem with calling your electric provider of your facility to diagnose a problem is that the problem is never evident while they are there.  Our pa-7 will record the electrical characteristics of your facility for weeks at a time and pin-point sags, swells, surges, and trends that would not be evident otherwise.  We can then determine the causes of these disruptions, recommend a solution, and then install the remedy as required.

Utilities do not like to admit when they are wrong.  With a hardcopy print out from our pa-7, they will have no argument and be forced to remedy the situation.  If the problem is determined to originate from inside your facility, we can recommend and install the necessary actions such as voltage regulators, surge suppressors, and power conditioners.

Copper Structured Cabling

Like most companies, yours more than likely depends on its computer and phone systems.  Unfortunately, improper cabling installation is the number one cause for network failures.  The CAT 5e, CAT 6, or possibly the CAT 7 structured cabling infrastructure of your facility has become just as important as the electrical system.  You wouldn’t hire an electrician who wasn’t qualified and licensed, so why would you hire a company who is not certified to install your structured cabling?

All structured cabling installations are supervised by BICSI registered technicians, installers, and/or Panduit certified installers.  We have spent the last five years learning everything we could get our hands on to provide reliable, standards compliant, guaranteed installations.  All cables installed by HEC are certified to current standards and are warranted for at least 15 years, with 25 year warranties available.  A hard copy report is provided for each cable installed by HEC to verify that it will meet the tough performance requirements of today’s networks.  Through our regular education and training, Hylton’s Electric Connection, will always be ready to meet your networking needs.

Imagine being able to roam about your house or business while still being connected to the Internet or your corporate network with no cables.  Today this is possible and Hylton’s Electric Connection is ready to make that connection for you.  With speeds up to 55 Mbps and distance over 150 feet, you can move about your home or office with your laptop or PDA and never notice you have no hardwired connection, except of course you won’t be tripping over any cables.  Do you have a desktop PC or Mac that is going to be hard or almost impossible to connect with a cable?  By simply plugging in our USB Client Adapter, 30 seconds of setup, you’ll be surfing the web in no time.  Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and whatever they can think of, we will be ready.

Overhead Paging

Tired of yelling for your coworkers?  Let us install a new Valcom overhead paging system for you today.  Multi-zone, outdoor, and two way paging are available with ergonomically pleasing speakers.  You can even play music over it.

These unique speakers have the amplifier attached to the speaker instead of having a centralized and expensive amplifier.  The volume of each speaker may be adjusted independently so you can turn yours down even if everybody else prefers to turn theirs up.

Installation is even cheaper than other overhead paging products.  Since the amplifier is on the speaker instead of centrally located; smaller, cheaper, twisted pair cable can be used to run your paging system instead of the old, expensive, bulky, and shielded cable of the past.

Security Systems

Hylton’s Electric Connection has been installing DSC security systems for over 16 years.  Our clients have included homes, office buildings, hospitals, and banks to name a few.  We offer full protection to your home or business from unauthorized access.  We can even monitor for fire, carbon monoxide, and medical emergencies.

Our security systems are monitored twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by our Central Station Monitoring Service.  If your system activates, the monitoring station will notify you, police, fire, and a list of people provided by you immediately so that quick response to your emergency situation can be provided.

Some of the nice features that can be included into your DSC security system include:  wireless entry, closed circuit television, card access, and automatic activation of lighting and appliances when your system is disarmed.

Video Surveillance Systems

Video surveillance is another way Hylton’s Electric Connection can provide security to your home or business.  All installations are custom installations, no out of the box kits.  Products include:  black and white or color imaging, pan/tilt/zoom cameras, hidden cameras, night vision cameras to name a few.

We also offer several options for video storage: VHS tape recorders, digital video recorders, or recording straight to the hard drive of your PC.  Tape recording uses the same VHS tape that your VCR at home uses except the images are time compressed so that several days and several cameras can be recorded to one tape.  All cameras are recorded simultaneously, so that there are no time gaps from any camera.  Digital recording allows you to record images to the hard drive of a digital recorder or even your personal recorder, weeks of video images can be recorded before the hard drive has to be reset.  Digital recording also allows you to view and print still photographs from the video images that you recorded.  It’s even possible to view the cameras images and recording from other PC’s connected to your local or wide area network or simply by dialing into the recorder over a standard phone line with your computer.

Transmitting can also take on several forms.  HEC can transmit your video over standard coax, fiber optic cabling for long distances and added security, or even wirelessly with ranges up to 10 miles.

Access Control Systems

Do you ever wonder who is entering your building and when?  Do you have employees who should have access to your building, but not after certain hours? Or maybe your wondering who found the key to your front door that was lost last week and your now wondering who has full access to your business?

With electronic access control systems you can have full control of single or multiple doors and even single or multiple sites.  Control the times employees are allowed to gain entry into your facility.  Delete lost cards without leaving your office.  Know exactly who entered your facility and exactly the time they entered.  Everything can be controlled from a simple PC interface.  Lock or unlock all doors at once during an emergency.  Know exactly what time your employees in Knoxville are coming to work from your office in Virginia.

Access control is not only for your business, but for single and multi-family dwellings as well.  Many gated communities and apartment complexes use access control to restrict access to tenants, land owners, and permitted guests.  Upon arrival, guest scroll through a digital read out of each tenant.  When the correct tenant is located, they simple press the call button which rings the phone in the home or apartment.  To let your guest in, you simple press the pound key and the gate opens to let them in and then closes behind them.  HEC can provide this service to your neighborhood or building.

Access control can be as simple as entering a four digit code on an electric keypad or having a retinal scan before the door will unlock.  Distribute a new $3.00 proximity card the next time one is lost instead of paying your locksmith $500 to re-key your facility.

Fire Alarm Systems

Fire detection is critical for your business and your home and Hylton’s Electric Connection takes fire detection very seriously.  From simple single zone to panels to 600 point addressable systems, Hylton’s Electric Connection can install the right Fire Lite fire alarm system for you.

Smoke detectors, photo-electric beam detectors, and even flame detectors can be installed to guarantee you a fast response to a fire condition.  We currently service several banks, 60+ Frontier Communication central offices, large industrial facilities, apartment complexes, and single family homes.  We can find the right application to protect you and your property.  Once we have the system installed, we can monitor the system with our 24 hour Central Station Monitoring.

Special Applications

Have you ever had an idea for your business or home and wandered if it could be done.  Let’s say you have a barn one mile from your house and you need someway for your wife to let you know when it is time to eat dinner.  You don’t have cell service and she can’t yell loud enough.  It’s too far to install a doorbell and you didn’t really want to dig a ditch for the wires anyway.  Can it be done wirelessly?  Yes. 

Maybe you have a nice, secluded house protected by a gate that is too far away to be seen and you would have to drive to it to let someone in.  How would you know who it is?  What if is was as simple as them pushing a button, ringing your home phone even if you were on it, announcing their arrival, you pushing a button on your keypad, the gate opening and then closing once your visitor drives through.  It can be done and it can be done reasonably easy and reasonably affordable.
